A 20-year-old Arizona State University student has been identified as the person who drowned last week in Tempe Town Lake.

Elijah Prince’s body was discovered Aug. 15 with the help of an underwater drone supplied by Salt River Project to assist Tempe Fire and Medical Rescue’s dive team.

Police and fire department units went to the lake on the night of Aug. 14 after a witness called to report seeing an individual in the water who did not resurface, according to a release from the Tempe Police Department.

The Tempe Police Department is investigating the incident as a suicide.

Anyone with information can contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
