Four members of Sun City’s National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Agua Fria Chapter, recently presented 50th anniversary commemorative Vietnam veteran lapel pins, brochures explaining the meaning of the symbols on the pin, bumper stickers, buttons and flag pins to 20 Vietnam War era veterans who served active military duty between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, in any branch of the service and anywhere in the world.

The United States Department of Defense sponsors the project and sends the requested pins and brochures to partner organizations. The Agua Fria Chapter is a DOD Commemorative Project partner organization.

Six surviving spouses of deceased Vietnam War era veterans were also given special commemorative lapel pins packets.

This project will end Memorial Day 2025 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

Anyone interested in joining this project can visit vietnamwar50th.com.

In addition to honoring and thanking the Vietnam veterans, two World War II veterans, eight Korean War veterans and 11 veterans serving in the military during peace time between WW II and the Vietnam War were given special NSDAR certificates containing their names, veteran lapel pins and flag pins.

The Palms Life Enrichment Director Theresa Cirino provided the veterans’ names and when they served in the military to be placed on the certificates.
