Kayak journey planned for Lake Pleasant

Maricopa County Parks says an easy paddle

If the weather is good, the Maricopa County Parks Department staff are going to coordinate a cruise one of the marinas together as a group. Whether someone already has their own kayak or needs to rent one, this program is for people who enjoy a slower pace.

The ride will begin at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25.

The group will stay together, go under four miles, keep near the shoreline and  social type of paddle for about three hours.

Maricopa County Parks staff members said persons without their own kayak can rent one from South by Southwest Adventures! They will supply the kayak, paddle and life vest. Trip leaders recommend kayakers book ahead at https://fareharbor.com/sbsouthwest/items or call South by Southwest at 928-421- 1288. They will bring your kayak right to the launch site for the program.

Parks Dept staff members say life vests must be worn at all times on the water and each kayaker must have a whistle.

Bring some water and a snack too to keep you going. Dress to get wet and for the weather. This paddle will meet at the end of Desert Tortoise Road, just follow the “Pleasant Paddlers” signs to the put-in area, once inside the main gate of the park.
