Donald L. Holman 91 of Sun City West, AZ passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. Don was one of five children born to Forest Arba and Lela Mae Holman of Corder, MO on June 18, 1932. He would often tell his grandchildren that he graduated in the top 13 of his graduating class. Don joined the Air Force and proudly served his country (1952 – 1956). Don married Joan (Brooks) in 1954, making Sheridan, CO their home until her death in 1986. Don was one of the founding partners of Arapahoe Optical Company. Don and Joan had two children, daughter Karen Holman (deceased) Jay Fitch and son Michael Holman (Patti). Karen’s family includes granddaughters Joan Bardgill and Katherine Dochow (Jesse) and four great grandchildren. Mike’s family includes grandson Michael “Boots” Holman, Jr. and granddaughters Mariah Richard (Anthony) and Miranda Holman. Sharing their enjoyment of golf, dancing, and the mountains, Don found love again and married Lorraine (Goudge) in June 1991. Don and Lori lived in Grand Lake, Colorado until moving to the wonderful community of Sun City West. Don “knew no strangers and made every person feel like they were the most important person in the room.” Don and Lori were married 29 years until Lori’s death in 2020. Don is survived by sister Elaine Lashley, brother Jim (Sandi), sisters-in-laws Sharon (Bob Holman) and Evelyn (Larry Holman) along with numerous nephews, nieces, and many lifelong friends. Don loved to play cornhole, horseshoes, bocce ball, and loved all outdoor activities including his morning walks. He was a proud member of the Automotive Restoration Club (ARC). Don lived life to the fullest and would tell you that he lived his best life. He was loved by so many friends and neighbors. What a legacy. Thanks for the memories!
