Bobcats call Sun City West home

Spent summer roaming community

Posted

Sun City West was a summer destination for a family of bobcats.

Sun City West resident David Pickles kept seeing posts on the Nextdoor website of a family of bobcats. He heard the kittens were birthed underneath someone’s barbecue and have been roaming the Sun City West community ever since.

“I first saw them up close one month ago. I was out on a bike ride one mile from our house and I saw them in someone’s front yard. A couple of the kittens climbed up a tree,” Mr. Pickles said.

Last month, Mr. Pickles said he saw a bobcat walk across the neighbor’s backyard and hid behind a shrub, where the rest of the family was hanging out. He said he used his big lens to keep his distance and not stress them out to capture the group lounging on the front porch as they found comfort in the shade.
