Williamson: Raising more questions than answers

Posted

The article “Airport feasibility study dissected” offers some basic information, yet raises more questions.

Nice big round numbers like “$1 billion in revenue” and “8,000 jobs” and “$60 million annually in state & local taxes” sure sound great!

Who is “Rounds Consulting Group,” and more importantly, who is paying “”Rounds Consulting Group?”

Let’s have a closer look at the algorithms used to come up with these great numbers. According to Coffman Associates Airport Consultants, there is a “very, very strong demand” for an airport in Peoria.

What criteria(s) were used to come up with “very, very strong demand?”

One number that could be accurately produced is the cost. Any commercial construction company can provide a budget for runway, hangars, office/terminal buildings, etc. That would be a good place to start.

Generally land costs are easy to uncover also. I suggest a much closer look!
