Posted
William P. “Bill” Virgason went home to his beloved Alfreda on March 30, 2024, at the age of 96. He was born on July 29, 1927, in Delphos, KS to Floyd and Pearl Virgason. He married Alfreda on May 17, 1948 and was blessed with a daughter, Joyce. Bill graduated from Delphos High school in 1945. He briefly served in the Navy before beginning his career with the phone company. Bill started as a lineman and then became an engineer, retiring from SW Bell after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, big band music, playing the piano, poker, and spending time with his friends and family, particularly his long-time companion Tine. Bill was famous for having a sweet tooth, but was always willing to share. He greeted every person he met with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He leaves a profound legacy of kindness, generosity, and strength of character. Bill is survived by his daughter Joyce (John) Carnelia of Phoenix; grandchildren John (Thanya) Carnelia, Juliet Carnelia, Janet (Jason) Woodruff, Delyla Velez and Chelsea Chacos; great grandchildren Justine (Shayne) Collins, John Richard (Angel) Carnelia, Pepper Woodruff and Flynn Woodruff; great great grandchildren John Scott Carnelia, Wyatt Collins, Paisley Collins, and Kayce Collins; brother Lynn (Helen) Virgason.
