The West Valley Chorale, directed by Ken Goodenberger, artistic director, with Christine Kyhn, principal accompanist, continues celebrating its 40th season by presenting “America in Song.”

Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd., and 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd.

The concerts showcase the richness and variety of American music.

Excerpts from commissioned works by Dan Forrest, Craig Bohmler and Kyhn will be featured.

The concerts will also include works by Aaron Copland, Joseph Martin, Samuel Barber, John Ness Beck and Williametta Spencer, to name a few, plus several soulful arrangements of spirituals and arrangements of “Shenandoah” and “Down in the Valley.”

Maximilien Farkas, first place winner of the West Valley Chorale’s Young Singers Competition, will also perform during the spring concerts.
