Weber: Where is water coming from?

Posted

I just read Dianne Adams article in the Sun City West Independent and would like to add a few facts.

Residential consumption of water is only 8%. Commercial and agricultural use the remaining 92%.

So where is Maricopa County getting the water from? Farmers selling their fields to developers frees up millions of acre feet of water.

Warehouses are constructed which use less water. Developers construct large subdivisions because they have miraculously found this cache of water is no longer being used for growing food.

On a positive note, Maricopa County helps to recharge the aquifer with the unused portion of allocated water that comes from the Colorado River. This is the water that California tried to take from us because we weren’t using it.

Former Gov. Ducey stopped that in a heartbeat.
