Ruben Gallego and Kari Lake will face each other stage during a Clean Elections Commission debate set for 6 p.m. Wednesday to discuss why voters should select them as the next senator from Arizona.
The debate features the two candidates in one of the less than a dozen seats that could tilt the balance of the U.S. Senate.
Neither is a stranger to Arizona politics. Gallego, a Democrat, is currently a sitting House of Representatives member. Lake, a Republican, ran in 2022 for governor and lost to Katie Hobbs.
The seat, which is open after Sen. Kyrsten Sinema opted not to run, is rated as lean Democrat, according to Cook Political Report. Gallego has consistently led Lake in multiple polls conducted in the state.
