Members of the Peoria police and fire-medical departments honored Police Chief Art Miller with well wishes on his final day before retirement, Nov. 9.

During his recognition, members of the department gathered and shared stories about Miller and concluded with the Walk of Honor, a tradition Miller helped bring to the department.

Miller has served in law enforcement for about 40 years. He spent the majority of his career, from 1978 to 2012, with the Los Angeles Police Department. For 20 years, he held upper-level management and leadership roles in the LAPD.

Then he moved to the South Pasadena Police department as police chief overseeing 36 sworn officers. He was apppointed as chief in Peoria in 2018, where he oversaw about 200 sworn officer.

Thomas Intrieri is expected to be appointed as the new chief at a city council meeting, Nov. 14.
