Valleywise Health Earns Re-Verification as a Level I Trauma Center

Posted

Valleywise Health, has been reverified by the American College of Surgeons.

The ACS recently completed a rigorous review of Valleywise Health Medical Center and found the organization up to its high standards to continue providing the highest quality lifesaving care.

“Being a Level I Trauma center has long been a point of pride for us,” Steve Purves, President and CEO, said. “Valleywise Health was first verified as a Level I Trauma Center by the ACS in 1979, and we’ve maintained that high level of service to Maricopa County residents since.”

The ACS’s Committee on Trauma has five separate categories of verification. Each has specific criteria that must be met by a facility seeking that level of verification. Reviewers determined that Valleywise Health satisfied all of the criteria for reverification as a Level I Trauma Center through 2024.

“This achievement confirms our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality trauma care for our patients. It’s also a testament to our trauma staff's professionalism and expertise,” Purves said.

“Maintaining our Level I trauma status is not only an asset for our community, it’s critical to training the next generation of physicians and trauma surgeons,” added Dr. Michael White, Chief Clinical Officer.
