The Totally Tubular Festival will celebrate the soundtrack of the 80s when it arrives in Phoenix this summer.
Thomas Dolby, the Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Modern English, Men Without Hats, the Romantics, Bow Wow Wow, and the Plimsouls will take the stage when the tour pulls into Arizona Financial Theatre on July 3.
The festival will debut in 17 markets across North America.
Ticket presales are available starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 through 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11. General sales start at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at ticketmaster.com.
The event features artists that exploded in the pop culture zeitgeist in the early to mid-1980s thanks mainly to the high rotation of their music videos on MTV. The genre has also seen a resurgence in recent years.
“This is a dream lineup for those who love the music of the early 1980s, and for those who want to relive the days when life was…plain and simply -- a total party,” Totally Tubular Festival’s Jon Pleeter shared in a press release. “You wore dayglow, you wore parachute pants, you had big hair, perms and more perms, mullets, leg warmers, along with tons of buttons and lots of rubber bracelets.”
A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will go toward food banks locally in each market.
