Three people are in custody after a man was stabbed to death at a north Phoenix park.

Eldon Sandoval, 24, and Maurice Darin James, 18, are facing charges of second-degree murder.

A third person, Chantel Ben, 21, was arrested for hindering prosecution.

Phoenix officers responded to Deer Valley Park around 1 a.m. Wednesday and found a man with a stab wound.

Isaac Clark, 23, later died from his injuries.

Police said Mr. Clark and two friends were in the park when they heard a vehicle being damaged. A physical fight ensued, during which Mr. Clark was stabbed around nine times, records state.

Police developed probable cause to arrest Mr. Sandoval and Ms. Ben, who were found near 23rd Avenue and Loop 101. Mr. Sandoval admitted to stabbing the victim in the neck, and stated Mr. James also took part in the attack.

Ms. Ben initially denied there being a third person, but admitted her brother, Mr. James, was with her and Mr. Sandoval.

Police later found Mr. James at a relative’s house.

He admitted to the vehicle damage and stabbing Mr. Clark.

Police recovered two bloody knives during the investigation, records state.

Mr. James was jailed in lieu of a $750,000 bond. Mr. Sandoval was booked without bond.
