Threats at West Valley school lead to teen girl's arrest

Phoenix Police detectives have arrested a teenage girl in connection with a threat made this week at Sierra Linda High School.
The girl was interviewed about the case on Oct. 3 and admitted her involvement, police said.
She “stated that the threat was meant to be a joke and got out of hand. The teen was booked into JCC on multiple felonies to include terroristic threats and computer tampering and disruption of an educational institution,” a Phoenix Police Department release stated.
Multiple social media threats were made Oct. 2 at the school near 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, according to an earlier release.
Administrators at Sierra Linda High School received information from students about several messages, and at about 10:15 a.m. the school resource sergeant was called to assist.
At about 11 a.m., “a message emerged with a photograph of an area that resembled a common space at the school,” the release stated.
“Out of an abundance of caution the school was placed in lockdown so all students could be accounted for in their classroom.”
The campus was found to be safe, and students were released from school.
“We have a zero-tolerance for anyone who threatens and disrupts our education establishments,” police stated in the release.
