Swing Kings announce spring concert schedule

The AZ Swing Kings will entertain Northwest Valley audiences with a number of concerts in the spring.

The AZ Swing Kings is a 19-piece big band, including a vocalist. The group consists of professional all-star musicians who play the authentic sounds of the famous bands who represented the swing and jazz eras. The band is directed by Lenny King, former creator and leader of the Chicago Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra.
The band’s upcoming schedule:

“Big Band Jazz and Swing,” 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 17 at Birt’s Bistro, 16752 N. Greasewood St., Surprise. Cover charge $5, public invited. Call 623-584-0065.

“The Great American Songbook and All That Jazz,” 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at Ventana Lakes Yacht Club, 20015 N. 108th Lane, Peoria. The Great American Songbook is a term used to describe the music from the era of the most important influential American popular songs of the 20th century. Tickets $15, seats are limited, open to public, order tickets by phone, call 623-566-6001.

Pregame entertainment, 4:30-6 p.m. Monday, March 27 at Goodyear Ballpark, 1933 S. Ballpark Way, Goodyear (Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago Cubs), performance outside the main entrance gate, public invited. Call 623-388-4858.

Concert, 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at Willowbrook United Methodist Church, 19390 N. 99th Ave. Admission $5, open to public. Call 623-974-5637, Ext. 15.

“Swing is Here” concert, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 at Sonoran Plaza Ballroom, 19753 N. Remington Drive, Sun City Grand, Surprise. Free admission, ticket required, more details will follow.

“Big Band Swingtime” concert, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, June 12-13 at Stardust Theatre at Kuentz Recreation Center, 14401 R.H. Johnson Blvd., Sun City West. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Call 623-544-6583.
