Suspect with life-threating injuries after Glendale officer-involved shooting

Posted

Glendale Police was involved in an officer-involved shooting that left a suspect with life-threatening injuries.

Just after midnight on Nov. 3, officers responded to the area of 62nd Avenue just north of Maryland Avenue to a call for service of a person acting erratic (yelling and screaming) and physically hitting cars, GPD reports.

When officers arrived, the suspect got into a vehicle and fled. As the suspect was leaving, he allegedly swerved at a patrol car with an officer in it and hit the car.

The suspect continued to flee, police say, and was followed to the area of 62nd Avenue and Ocotillo Road where he got out of the vehicle and ran.

Officers caught up to him on 62nd Avenue just south of Ocotillo Road where there was a confrontation between the suspect and officers, and the suspect was shot, investigators say.

Officers provided lifesaving efforts, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

The suspect's name was not released.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
