City of Surprise officials are still going through applications for the opening city manager position.
Mayor Skip Hall told viewers at a Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce event last week the city received 51 applications. Officials hope to narrow it down to three to four finalists when in-person interviews happen Sept. 28 and 29.
City Manager Mike Frazier recently announced his retirement. His last day will be Jan. 7.
Hall said the Surprise City Councill will set up a subcommittee to go through the applications.
