Two people are dead after a shooting in Surprise.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27 in a neighborhood near Litchfield and Waddell roads.

The Surprise Police Department said officers were dispatched to the area of the AMC near Litchfield and Waddell regarding a welfare check. The caller advised he had witnessed a male subject force a female subject into a vehicle.

As officers arrived on scene, they were directed to a vehicle leaving the area, traveling into a nearby neighborhood. When officers located the vehicle, they found the two occupants with gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were performed, but both died from their injuries on scene.

Authorities identified the male as Jafar Tigue, 21, of El Mirage, and the female as Faith Villanueva, 18, of Surprise.

Police said the two have been involved in a past relationship. No other people are being sought in this case. Police are not confirming the case as a murder-suicide.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident can call 623-222-4000 or 623-222-TIPS (8477), or email crimetips@surpriseaz.gov.

When contacting the police, refer to incident number 191206746.

The family of Ms. Villanueva have set up a GoFundMe for funeral expenses, with any leftover going towards Eve's Place in Youngtown, which is a shelter for those experiencing domestic violence.
