Annual celebration to feature fireworks, illuminated campus

Surprise officials have released details about the annual Surprise Party.

A variety of activities and entertainment experiences will be on hand, including a foam snow party, food trucks, a vendor village, kid zone and photo opportunities with Santa in Santa’s Workshop, presented by Palm Valley Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.

The two-night event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Surprise Recreation Campus, 15960 N. Bullard Ave.

Admission is free with a canned food or toy donation to Sanderson Ford Operation Santa.

Here is the schedule of events:

  • Dec. 1: The whole family will enjoy the holiday tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The mayor and City Council will light a new tree that’s set to music. Event-goers will also be treated to live music performed by The Hamptons. Then the show moves to the skies as the Arizona Skyhawks Skydivers and fireworks cap off the night. Friday’s event also kicks off Sparkling Surprise, a display of nearly 200,000 lights in and around Surprise Community Park. The campus will be illuminated each night from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., through Jan. 2.
  • Dec. 2: Saturday brings two captivating drone aerial displays, where a fleet of 200 drones fitted with LED lights create unique holiday-inspired animations in the sky with music. There will also be a hot air balloon glow with tethered rides, ice sculpting, live performances by The Very Secret Service Band and a showcase by our Special Interest Class participants.
