Surprise fire crews control home fire

Posted

Firefighters from the Surprise Fire and Medical Department responded to a house fire Thursday in the area of Citrus and Bell roads.

The fire is still under investigation, and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

When firefighters arrived on scene they encountered a small golf cart garage that was fully involved.

Firefighters worked to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the interior of the house.

The fire extended into the attic area. However, firefighters were able to access the attic and prevent complete destruction of the interior of the home.

The homeowner was home at the time the fire started and was able to evacuate safely with his family and pets. A smoke detector alerted the home owner to the fire.

The golf cart was not a lithium ion battery and was not plugged in.
