Sun City Men’s Club shares bingo wealth

Giving nearly $50,000

The call of “bingo” can be heard loud and clear — mostly — Thursdays and it means financial help for community agencies.

The Sundial Men’s Club hosts weekly bingo games at Sundial Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave., from September through May each year. The games draws nearly 500 players weekly, all competing for prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000. All the while they are helping raise funds for various agencies in Sun City.

Twice during the bingo season, the Men’s Club donates the proceeds from the games. In 2022, the club gave $48,400.

Club officials announced the recipients in the first round of payouts in December.

Receiving $2,000 each were the Sun City Condo Owners Association, Sun City Meals on Wheels, the Sun City Foundation, Sun City Community Assistance Network, Sun City Home Owners Association, Sun City PRIDES, Sun City Posse, Sunshine Service and the Valley View Community Food Bank. CAN, SCHOA, the PRIDES, the Posse and Sunshine Service also received $1,000 each in May from a shortened season after a 1.5-year shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Recreation Centers of Sun City received $10,000 in December, adding to the $12,400 received in the May allocation.
