Someburros celebrates first location in Peoria

Posted

Someburros celebrated its first location in Peoria with a spirited grand opening and ribbon cutting, Aug. 11.

The Someburros menu traces its lineage to the Vasquez family and their Mexcian food restaurant Poncho’s, which opened in south Phoenix in 1972, and others that followed.

Owner and President Tim Vasquez told a packed restaurant that he plans to give back to the community just as his parents did.

"So the more you spend time here, the more we are able to give back to little leagues and pop warner just like my parents did," he said at the event. "So raise a glass if you have one!"

The grand opening festivities and entertainment included a live mariachi band and an appearance by “Nacho,” the burro mascot.

The new location, 8200 W. Thunderbird Road, offers a walk-up counter for dining room service and takeout ordering, and to-go ordering with a drive-thru. For dining in, the Peoria location features a 1,500-square-foot indoor dining area, and a 400-square-foot outdoor dining patio. The interiors feature a modern desert living design while the exterior has a Spanish-revival architecture look, creating a space for family gatherings, date nights and quick-service lunches.

Someburros commissioned a local muralist, Isaac Caruso, to hand paint custom Dia De Los Muertos artwork highlighting Someburros’ mascot, Nacho.
