The Shops at Gainey Ranch, at 7704 E. Doubletree Ranch Rd., has completed renovations on the 30,591 square foot shopping center featuring a new light-colored exterior, black awnings and ironwork and refreshed signage. Corso Italia Restaurant & Market fine dining is open, and el Carbón Mexican Eatery opens on Saturday, July 20.

El Carbón Mexican Eatery is under the direction of Chef Danny Garcia and owner Danny Quinn of the Friends + Family Concepts operation that owns Publico Italian Eateries in Scottsdale and Phoenix. The 2,950-square-foot, 100-seat restaurant with open-fire Mexican cuisine features wood-fired proteins consisting of ribeye, marinated chicken, pork shoulder, shrimp, homemade tortillas and frozen margaritas. El Carbón offers weekend brunch and family-style dinners to-go and is open daily for lunch and dinner.

Chef Corrado La Macchia quietly opened Corso Italia Restaurant & Market in late spring. The 4,592-square-foot, fine-dining restaurant includes a retail market, an espresso bar, a gourmet deli and lunch counter, an open kitchen and a private room for cooking classes. The hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday and happy hour is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
