Apache Junction’s drug-prevention coalition, StandUp AJ, is seeking volunteers to serve as secretary and treasurer for the nonprofit organization.

StandUp AJ was formed in 2020 and replaced a drug-prevention coalition that started serving Apache Junction in 2008 and dissolved. Volunteers include Apache Junction community members, law-enforcement officials, educators and National Guard Counter Drug Task Force representatives.

Duties of the secretary include:

  • Keep accurate minutes of meetings;
  • Review and sign executive committee and coalition meeting minutes;
  • Ensure that all notices of meetings are sent in accordance with bylaws and policies;
  • Assist the chair and vice-chair with the maintenance of coalition records, notification of meetings and other tasks as requested; and
  • Keep or cause to be kept all documents, membership lists, and executive committee and committee lists of the coalition.

Duties of the treasurer include:

  • Work with fiscal agent, director on budgets and coalition funds;
  • Provide guidance to the executive committee regarding sources and uses of coalition funds;
  • Prepare an annual budget, and quarterly expense and revenue statements for consideration by the executive committee;
  • Answer members’ questions about the financial report; and
  •  Ensure adherence to financial policies of the coalition.

The group usually meets in-person and by Zoom the last Wednesday of each month.
