The Scottsdale Police Department partnered last week with staff from the Granite Reef and Via Linda senior centers to help deliver food and personal care items to homebound seniors.
The seniors also received postage stamps and a $35 gift card to a local grocery store. The items were donated by Scottsdale employees, community members and program partners.
The police helped primarily with the Granite Reef Senior Center staff during the June 8 event, officials said.
Between the two senior centers approximately 120 homebound seniors received the Beat the Heat packages.
According to the city, the annual program is headed by the senior centers’ staff.
