Scottsdale Gallery Association's summer ArtWalk July returns

Posted

On Thursday, July 6, the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s Summer Spectacular Gold Palette Artwalk returns after a three-year hiatus, according to a press release.

Taking place from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the Scottsdale Arts District — along Main St. from Scottsdale Rd. to Goldwater Blvd. and north of Indian School Rd. on Marshall Way to 5th Ave., the event serves as an opportunity for art enthusiasts to visit participating member galleries and enjoy local art.

“Our Summer Spectacular ArtWalk is a special time for residents and visitors alike to really enjoy the vibe of a Scottsdale summer,” Scottsdale Gallery Association President French Thompson said in the press release. “Participating galleries will be featuring refreshments to help guests stay cool as they peruse summer-themed exhibits and mingle with featured artists.”

Participating galleries include:
The Legacy Gallery
7178 E. Main St.
During the ArtWalk, the gallery is featuring Arizona artist Matt Smith who at an early age developed a lifelong connection to the Sonoran Desert and the great outdoors. Today Smith can be found painting en Plein air from southern Arizona to the Canadian Rockies, from the California coast to the Rocky Mountains. Inspired by the landscapes of the American West, Smith aspires to capture a balance between mood, look and feel in his paintings.

On the Edge Gallery
7045 E. Main St.
During the ArtWalk, On the Edge Gallery is showcasing two Arizona artists that epitomize sun and fun — the basics of a Scottsdale summer. Susan Feder’s lithe, whimsical sculptures bring the carefree spirit of vacation mode to life while Sheila Kollasch’s brilliant-hued renditions of the southwest flora and fauna highlight the natural treasures that flourish in Arizona’s sunny environment. Guests can mix and mingle with the artists during the event.

Quan’tum Art Inc.
7077 E. Main St., #16
Art enthusiasts are invited to enjoy great art, cold refreshments, a cool Instagram-worthy photo spot and, of course, lots of laughs with the artists.

Wilde Meyer Gallery
4142 N. Marshall Way
The gallery’s “Summer Show of Color” takes place throughout the month of July. A special reception on July 6 coinciding with the ArtWalk will feature a wide variety of artists including Greg Dye, Brenda Bredvik, Cathy Carey, Jaime Ellsworth, John Benedict, Pamela Ambrosio, Adam Homan and many others.

Xanadu Gallery
7039 E. Main St., #101During the ArtWalk, Xanadu Gallery will feature Spiritiles by enamel artist Houston Llew. Each enamel tile features a beautiful image with an inspirational quote. Xanadu offers a large selection including retired and exclusive Spiritiles, which are fun to collect and make great gifts.

The Scottsdale Gallery Association’s weekly ArtWalk, held most every Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in partnership with the city of Scottsdale, highlights art in Scottsdale featured throughout 28 galleries and two museums — Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. In addition, the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s Gold Palette ArtWalks, with multiple events throughout the year, feature a dedicated theme and themed activities including entertainment, refreshments, demonstrations and more.
