The Fifty Best, a digital guide for wines and spirits, evaluated 22 contenders for the annual “Best Gin” award, selecting Blue Clover Gin from old Town Scottsdale’s One Handsome Bastard as a 2024 gold medal recipient.

“We’re honored to be able to carry on Blue Clover Distillery’s legacy as Old Town Scottsdale’s first and only micro-distillery by continuing to produce and manufacture the award-winning spirits originally conceptualized by Weston Holm,” Trish Ritchie, owner and operator of One Handsome Bastard, said in a press release. “For years, the Valley has enjoyed Blue Clover gin and we’re excited to continue Blue Clover’s dedication to craft liquor.”

At The Fifty Best competition, judges evaluated each contender on a five-point system, with five being the highest score. Double-gold, gold and silver medals were awarded according to a set range of final point scores received from the judges.

Blue Clover Gin is a handcrafted modern take on gin. Drawing inspiration from the American Southwest, Blue Clover’s main botanicals are blood orange, rose and peach. This Gin is light in Juniper berries and heavy in fruit, making it fragrant, light, refreshing and perfect for the Arizona heat.

One Handsome Bastard hand-distills and manufactures its small-batch gin and vodka on-site. They produce a wide variety of gin, vodka, and flavor-infused liquors. House-made infused liquor flavors include grapefruit, green chile, blood orange, lemon and strawberry.
