Scottsdale resident Patricia L. Brooks will teach her workshop, “Write the Memoir You’re Afraid to Write,” this October at the V. G. Piper Writing House, 450 E. Tyler Mall, at Arizona State University.
The workshop meets 10 a.m.-noon Wednesdays, Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. The fee is $200 for adults and $100 for students. Registration is required at piper.edu.asu.
Those attending should bring ideas, questions and a notebook or journal. Participation will be suggested.
Brooks, who holds a master’s degree in organizational management, is the author of “Gifts of Sisterhood,” “Journey from Grief to Gratitude,” “Three Husbands and a Thousand Boyfriends” and “Sick as My Secrets.” She is president and founder of the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers and Brooks Goldmann Publishing, LLC (visit brooksgoldmannpublishing.com).
When she was faced with the grief and loss of her younger sister Roberta, Brooks wrote the first memoir to honor her. The second memoir covers her road of love addiction. Brooks’ third memoir tells the story of her 40 years of recovery from alcohol.
Her goal with each of these books is to help others traveling a similar path, or to inform those wanting to know more about the topics.
Contact Brooks at info@brooksgoldmannpublishing.com or 480-250-5556.
