Schuett: 2 Apache Junction Independent articles caught my attention

Posted

Two articles in the July 2023 issue of the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent caught my attention. Here are my comments:

  • Page 16: On the aviation air-flow test facility (with the headline “Aviation air-flow test facility coming to Gateway Airport), I don’t see that any potential noise issues were addressed. The airport had noise issues in the past and has grown since. Why not ask the question, “What noise levels will be present at what times of day?” Why not be prepared to set reasonable levels and times? Not addressing noise now will lead to misunderstandings later.
  • Page 24, (on the story with the headline “Library board to consider waiving fines for 4,024 patrons”): Oh please. Send them all to collection agencies, pay the commissions. If someone pays, let them back in. If someone does not, keep them out. Why should taxpayers pay for stolen books? Forgiveness of these little debts is wrong. The non-payers are probably using the internet on their $1,000 phones.
