Ridge Run Saturday raises money for athletics

Mountain Ridge High School, 22800 N. 67th Ave. in Glendale, will host its inaugural Ridge Run 5K at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 to raise money for the school’s 23 athletics programs.

The run/walk will begin at the school, travel throughout the neighborhood and finish on campus.

The race will start at 8 a.m., rain or shine. The registration fee is $ 30 for all participants and includes a T-shirt. All fitness levels are welcome and the event is designed for the whole family to enjoy whether walking or running the course. There will be road closures from 6: 30 to 11 a. m. The following streets will be impacted during this time:

• Patrick Lane from 67th Ave. to 71st Ave.

• 71st Ave. from Villa Chula to Robin Lane.

“ We want both individuals and families to participate in our community event,” Junior Michael, athletic director for Mountain Ridge High School, stated in a news release.

“Doing the 5K run or walk as a family is a great way to model the fitness lifestyle. You can walk, jog or run in the 5K and it is a great way to meet your New Year’s Resolutions for healthy living.”

Mountain Ridge is an award-winning school and has earned the A+ School of Excellence designation.
