Residential cleanup event on tap in Surprise this weekend

Residents can bring trash items to Deer Valley landfill March 9

Posted

Surprise residents looking to spruce up their landscape or clean out their garage, now is the perfect time.

Take advantage of the Residential Waste Cleanup Event on Saturday, March 9.

This event is designed to help residents remove larger items that aren't easily placed in a curbside trash bin.

These items can include home improvement materials such as carpet or tile, yard waste and oversized household items such as chairs or tables.

Surprise residents can bring up to 2,000 pounds of non-hazardous, residential waste free of charge to the Northwest Regional Landfill, 19401 W. Deer Valley Road, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Acceptable items include lawn waste and other household refuse.

There is a limit of one load per household.

Participants will be required to show proof of their Surprise residency via a driver's license and utility bill showing the same home address.

Hazardous waste items will not be accepted during this event. Items such as paint, batteries, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals will be collected during the city's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, April 15 to 26, by appointment only.
