Recreation Centers of Sun City officials want to hear from residents about the board election process.
A survey was sent to residents signed up for RCSC-generated news email blasts that can be taken and submitted. The survey asks a series of question about the most recent RCSC board election in December and the process in general.

Responses to this survey will be tallied and the information shared with the RCSC Elections Committee, according to Joelyn Higgins, RCSC communications and marketing coordinator.
Each December three new Directors are elected and replace members whose terms are expiring. The corporation’s governing documents specifiy candidate eligibility. Prospective candidates must be at least 55 and nor related by marriage or birth to any seated board member, senior management staff or other board candidate. Candidates must also be deeded property owners and residents in Sun City, and they must be in good standing with RCSC.
Other requirements are being available at least 10 months per year, able to hold an Arizona liquor license and be able to serve a full three-year term. Successful candidates are required to attend a candidates’ orientation.
Surveys were emailed to residents signed up on the RCSC e-blast list. Those not on that list can access the survey at signing up, or go to the corporate offices at Lakeview Recreation Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd.
Surveys must be returned no later than Wesnesday, April 19.

RCSC officials encourage residents to run for open seats on the board. For several years there was a shortage of candidates and vacant seats not filled in the election process had to be appointed. However, the Elections Committee has taken an aggressive proactive approach in the past few years and as a result there have been as many or more candidates as open seats for the past two election cycles.
