Ravenscroft in Scottsdale releases jazz-concert schedule for 2022-23

Posted

Ravenscroft, Arizona’s newest concert venue with a stunning state-of-the-art 200-seat concert hall and intimate jazz lounge, announced its 2022-23 jazz-series lineup and ticket packages.

According to a press release, the series, formerly known as the Lakeshore Music Jazz Series, begins Saturday, Sept. 17, with a concert fronted by Valley jazz legend Lewis Nash, and in May concludes with a blockbuster doubleheader by Artemis, a dynamic supergroup of six of the most acclaimed women in jazz.

Tickets for the nine-concert series go on sale Tuesday, July 12, online at theravenscroft.com, or at the Ravenscroft box office, or over the phone at 1-800-785-3318, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The series is presented September through May at Ravenscroft Hall, 8445 E. Hartford Dr. in Scottsdale, just southeast of Loop 101/Princess Drive in the Scottsdale Perimeter Complex.

Woody Wilson, longtime Tempe resident, civic leader and pioneering figure in the Valley’s jazz scene, has been named executive producer of the rebranded Ravenscroft Jazz Series, Ravenscroft director David Bauer stated in the release.

“Woody Wilson is a legend in the local jazz community, who has produced and promoted amazing concerts for many years,” Bauer stated. “We’re thrilled that he’ll be bringing that knowledge and experience to our inaugural season of the Ravenscroft Jazz Series.”

Wilson stated that the 2022-23 lineup “has the tried-and-true audience favorites and established artists, such as Bill Charlap, Christian Jacob and Lewis Nash.”

“It also has the hot, new and young emerging talents, such as Alicia Olatuja and Samara Joy,” Wilson, who founded Lakeshore Music, stated in the release. “Combine those shows with our popular local artists, such as Beth Lederman and Jazz con Alma and Mike Kocour’s exceptional ensemble, and we have a series that everyone can love.

“The new series reflects what we had always done at Lakeshore Music and my personal vision of what a jazz-concert series should program.”

A variety of ticket packages is available:

  • 8 or all 9 concerts: 20 percent discount over single-show pricing.
  • 5, 6 or 7 concerts: 15 percent discount.
  • 3 or 4 concerts: 10 percent discount.

Single-concert sales also are available.

All seats are reserved and all concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at Ravenscroft Hall.

Ravenscroft Hall offers an unparalleled musical experience with superb acoustics, featuring the renowned Meyer Constellation sound system, according to the release. It also features state-of-the-art video capability.

Fans enjoy an optimal listening experience and perfect viewing from any seat in this contemporary performance space.

The Ravenscroft campus includes Jazzbird Lounge, where patrons may enjoy a beverage and light hors d’oeuvres. It has a small performing stage and tables for about 100.

Many of the Valley’s finest jazz artists are booked into Jazzbird each Friday evening in the free-of-charge Jazzbird Nights Series.

Tempe-based Lakeshore Music, which for 14 seasons presented one of the premier jazz-concert series in the nation, in May entered into an agreement to merge its operations into Scottsdale-based Ravenscroft.
