Queen Creek is recognizing the efforts of the Economic Development industry during this National Economic Development Week.

According to a press release, the town’s Economic Development Department is promoting economic well-being and quality of life by creating, retaining and expanding jobs that facilitate growth, enhance wealth and provide a stable tax base,

Queen Creek’s Economic Development Department recently was reaccredited as an Accredited Economic Development Organization by the International Economic Development Council. The accreditation demonstrates professional excellence, along with notable successes since the department’s original accreditation in 2018, which include:

  • Launch of the new economic development website, InvestTheQC.com, in 2018 with a refresh in 2021.
  • Completion the FatCats entertainment rezoning and permitting process, bringing a significant family entertainment venue into the town.
  • Banner Medical completing a 60,000-square-foot medical office expansion at its Ironwood Medical Center campus in the southeast section of the town, as well as two new floors with 36 additional beds at the hospital.
  • Recognized by the Arizona Association of Economic Development as Medium Organization of the Year for Economic Development (2020)
  • Jennifer Lindley, downtown development manager, named Economic Developer of the Year- Medium Community (2021).

“The Economic Development team is committed to serving the QC community,” stated Queen Creek Economic Development Director Doreen Cott, in the release. “The Economic Development Strategic Plan serves as our guiding document, which is supported by the town’s General Plan. We continue to work to fulfill the vision outlined in these various documents and appreciate the guidance from both the Economic Development Commission and the town council.”

National Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers.
