Phoenix Walmart to donate $5,300 to local nonprofits

The upcoming grand opening of a remodeled Phoenix Walmart location will include grants to local nonprofits.

The Walmart Supercenter at 4747 E. Cactus Road will host a celebration at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20.

The store manager will present $5,300 in grants to Arizona Helping Hands ($1,000), Bureau of Jewish Education ($1,000), Larkspur Elementary School ($1,000), Maricopa County Sheriffs Office ($1,300) and Shadow Mountain High School ($1,000).

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will be in attendance and the Marine Guards will be raising the new flag.

The remodeled store will also include the unveiling of a new mural by local artist Mollie Reynolds.
