Phoenix police arrest 3 in connection with vehicle burglaries, shooting

Posted

A 19-year-old and two teenagers were arrested in connection with several vehicle burglaries in Phoenix, according to police.

The burglaries happened Wednesday morning in the area of 19th Avenue and Beardsley Road.

According to Phoenix police, a victim saw three people burglarizing his vehicle in the driveway. The owner obtained a handgun and approached the suspects, one of whom then pointed a weapon at the victim, records state.

According to court documents, the victim and suspect struggled over the victim’s gun when it discharged and struck the victim in the leg.

The three suspects fled the scene, taking the victim’s handgun and cell phone charger, records state.

Police then responded to other vehicle burglaries in the area.

The suspects held at least two people at gunpoint while attempting to burglarize the vehicles. However, police arrived on scene and arrested the suspects without incident.

Police identified one of the suspects as Jykese Davis, 19, of Surprise. The other two were 16-year-old males.

All three allegedly admitted to trying to steal items from vehicles if they were unlocked, according to records.

Mr. Davis was booked on suspicion of armed robbery and aggravated assault.

In an unrelated matter the same morning, Phoenix police responded to a home in the area of 15th Avenue and Rockwood Driver after a homeowner reported hearing glass break and seeing a suspect in his home.

Police said the homeowner then shot the suspect, who is in stable condition and will be booked into jail once he is released from the hospital.
