Three men are behind bars facing first-degree murder charges in connection with what Phoenix police said was a “brutal killing.”

Bernardo Pantaleon was found dead Nov. 26 at a park near 7th and Cinnabar avenues, “having suffered from significant bodily trauma,” police said in a release.

Detectives took over the investigation and, on Dec. 2, three arrests were made.

Leonardo Santiago, 21, Manuel Carrasco Calderon, 21, and 20-year-old Jose Rodriguez were arrested and interviewed at police headquarters.

“During the interviews, all three men confessed to the murder of Bernardo. They were later booked into jail on various charges, including first-degree murder,” police said.
