The Peoria Unified School District governing board approved COVID-19 sick pay for their employees, Aug. 12.
The approval allows for up to 80 hours of paid sick leave as a benefit of employment upon presentation of an employee’s positive COVID-19 test or documentation that the employee has been advised by a health care provider to quarantine while awaiting a COVID-19 test result.
The district had previously offered paid leave for employees due to COVID-19 illness, which is an optional benefit that employers can choose to provide to employees. However officials said the initiative ended March 31 when COVID-19 improved. This approval brings it back.
