Peoria man turns himself in after Apache Junction crash that killed Mesa girl

Posted

A 45-year-old man turned himself in Monday to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Phoenix in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a 16-year-old Mesa girl, authorities said.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers arrested Robert C. Moyer II of Peoria on one charge of leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

The suspect turned himself in to MCSO at 8 a.m July 17. The collision occurred 7:40 a.m. July 16 on U.S. 60 near Meridian Road in Apache Junction.

The teen was killed after she was struck by a pickup truck on eastbound U.S. 60 at the Meridian Road off-ramp, authorities said.

Troopers said they believe she was walking along the highway when she was hit by the pickup.
