Officials: Peoria Unified schools will re-open Thursday

Peoria Unified schools anticipate having adequate staff to reopen on Thursday, PUSD spokeswoman Danielle Airey said in a statement.

The district's 42 schools will reamain closed on Wednesday.

The walk-out  has been a result of long-time teacher dissatisfaction over pay and educational funding.

The announcement comes after what will be five days of district-wide school closures, leaving about 37,000 students to make up the school days at future dates.

"We know our community is anxious to know how we will make-up the instructional time that was missed during our school closure," Ms. Airey stated. "We are working on our calendar and look forward to sharing it once it is complete."
