Nominations are open for Scottsdale Salutes
Program honors those in uniform

In November, the city of Scottsdale will publicly thank veterans and military service members in the community by featuring them on light pole banners in Old Town.
This will be the second year of the Scottsdale Salutes program, according to a press release.
“Scottsdale proudly honors those in our community who have served, and continue to serve, in the armed forces of the United States,” Mayor David D. Ortega said at the launch of the program. “Our veterans and members of the armed forces truly valued members of Scottsdale. We look forward to honoring them in this very visible way.”
Veterans, active-duty service members and members of the National Guard and reserves who live in Scottsdale, or are from Scottsdale, are eligible for recognition, the release stated.
Submit nominations at ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “Scottsdale Salutes.” The nomination deadline is Friday, Sept. 22. Those selected will be honored at a community reception in November.
The Scottsdale Salutes recognition program was initiated by the Scottsdale Veterans Advisory Commission, seven residents appointed by the Scottsdale City Council to advise on veterans’ issues and to raise awareness of and honor veterans in the community.
