The Scottsdale Police Department would like to introduce its new Forensic Services Director Nancy Crump Wahl.
Wahl brings over 25 years of experience in forensics to her new position, according to a press release. Prior to working at the Scottsdale Police Department, Wahl worked for 25 years at the Phoenix Police Crime Lab, where she analyzed casework in the controlled substances section, provided expert testimony and trained police officers in drug recognition.
She was also responsible for the creation, implementation, expansion and oversight of the Phoenix Police Department Field Identification (or CSO) program. This program was used as the model for a national program sponsored by the National Institute for Justice which began implementation as a pilot program in November 2006, the release stated.
Wahl earned her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Utah in 1990 and is currently working on completing her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Northern Arizona University.
Wahl is a member of the Clandestine Laboratory Investigating Chemists Association, the Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors. She sat on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors from 2009–2013 and still participates on committees for the organization.
