Phoenix Indian Center announced that the 40th Annual Silver & Turquoise Ball will be presented by Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise, one of the oldest enterprises of the Navajo Nation.
The event takes place on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, 340 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, with the theme “Celebrating Our Voices.”
“Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise and Phoenix Indian Center share a common goal of building up and supporting the Native community. Having NACE as our first Native American presenting sponsor demonstrates the growth of Indian Country and how our communities can work together to achieve success” Jolya,na Begay-Kroupa, Phoenix Indian Center CEO, shared in a press release. “We are thrilled about this new partnership and are grateful for their generous sponsorship of the Silver & Turquoise Ball.”
Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise, created in 1941, was established as a guild to foster the artistry of the Navajo people through silversmithing, rug weaving, painting, and other Navajo art. Through the decades, NACE expanded into an enterprise of the Navajo Nation to build and support the local economy.
“Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise looks forward to supporting all Native American artists while inspiring a new and younger generation of artists,” NACE CEO JT Willie stated. “Reflecting on the Enterprise’s mission statement, ‘To promote and showcase authentic Native American arts and crafts,’ we felt that Phoenix Indian Center’s Silver & Turquoise Ball was a perfect fit.”
Silver & Turquoise Ball will feature both silent and live auctions featuring American Indian art, jewelry, gifts, and services from local businesses. Chairman Robert Miguel of the Ak-Chin Indian Community and Dr. Christine Wiggs, Staff Vice President of Community & Health Advancement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona, will serve as event co-chairs.
The auction is co-chaired by Native American artist Garrett Etsitty and art consultant Christy Vezolles. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment and an Indigenous-inspired dinner curated by featured chef Denella Belin.
Individual tickets for the event are $275. Sponsorships are available and start at $3,500 for a table of 10.
