Name: Suzanne Tatz, Managing Partner

Name/address/location of business: Statz Agency located in Peoria

How long have you been in business? Since 2009

Briefly describe your business/services offered: We are full service insurance agency specializing in helping seniors with Medicare. We write Medicare, Life, annuities, home, auto, golf cars and much more

What made you choose this line of work and why is it important or interesting to you? I love to help people and especially love helping seniors. I built my business on the philosophy of always doing the right thing and the success will come.

At the end of the day, what brings you the most joy or is the most rewarding aspect about your business? Meeting new people, listening to what their needs are and being able to assist and educate them on the right programs.

What separates you from your competition? My agents and I focus on being a resource and building a relationship with our clients and not just making a sale. We want to be the first person our clients call when they have questions, concerns or issues. We can help anyone from cradle to grave for almost any of their insurance needs. Statz agency is a team of four employees—Suzanne, Dallas, Trevor and Cherina—who work with more than 60 independent agents that all have the same qualities of integrity, trust and knowledge. I am truly blessed with the team I have!

What civic groups, clubs, organizations or causes do you or your business support? We support veterans, ASPCA, many Sun City West clubs including golf, ARC, bowling, tennis and more. I love Sun City West.

Tell us about your family. I have two fur baby Yorkies, Token, 10 years old, and Jack is 4. They are the loves of my life and I have 11 nieces and nephews I have loved to spoil most of my life.

Where are you from? I am originally from Des Moines, Iowa. I moved to Arizona in 1998 for better career opportunities and have some family here. I am happy to not have to shovel anything any time of the year.

Who was the biggest influence in your life? My mother – she was my rock, my biggest supporter and cheerleader. I owe everything to her as she was a single mom that always put her four kids first and taught us to be strong, independent, loving, caring people. She has the most generous heart.

What advice would you give to someone contemplating starting their own business? Stay with it. It is easy to give up as it does take a lot of time, energy, commitment, money, blood, sweat and tears but it is worth every moment. The rewards outweigh the hardships. There is nothing like looking back and saying “I DID THIS.” The feelings of accomplishment and success are overwhelming and exciting!

Anything interesting about yourself and your profession: I genuinely love what I do and it shows. The Medicare maze and insurance maze can be very boring and very tedious but I find excitement in educating the community and learning the changes from year to year.
