Maricopa County’s Wellness Expo coming to Goodyear

September is National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month and Maricopa County is focusing on being ready, prepared, and healthy through Wellness Expos.

The public health department is offering free services to prevent diseases like breast cancer, COVID-19, influenza, high blood pressure, diabetes, and more with free clinics in three communities across the Valley.

In the West Valley a clinic goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at the YMCA in Goodyear, at 2919 N. Litchfield Road. Mammogram appointments are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Those who require special accommodations at these events should call 888-233-6121 at least five business days before the event.

Services Available:

Vaccinations

All vaccinations are free for people without insurance. Those with Medicare can only receive flu, COVID-19, and pneumonia vaccines at this time.

For everyone 6 months and older: COVID-19, flu (limited supply and will be given as available).

For adults 19 and older Hepatitis A/Hepatitis B, Tdap, MMR, Varicella (chickenpox), HPV (11-45 years), shingles (50 and older) (limited supply and will be given as available), pneumonia (65 and older) (limited supply and will be given as available).

Health screenings

Diabetes testing (A1C), hypertension/blood pressure, dental varnish for children, HIV testing.

Additional services

Injury prevention, Stop the Bleed demonstration, fall prevention education, Narcan training, AHCCCS enrollment and sliding fee scale medical service connection for those with low income, free giveaway items like first aid kits, vitamins for women, COVID-19 home tests, and hand sanitizer (limited supply and will be given as available).
