Man's body found in McDowell-Sonoran Preserve

Posted

A death investigation is underway after a man’s body was found and recovered Friday night inside the McDowell-Sonoran Preserve, Scottsdale police said.

The body was recovered about 9 p.m. Oct. 11 near Stagecoach Pass and Boulder View Drive after family members reported the man missing around 5:30 p.m.,  police stated in a release. He had been on a bike ride, and his body was found by searchers off-trail “far inside the preserve.”

The search was aided by drones, cell phone data and an air unit from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Scottsdale detectives and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting the investigation, and police stated initial information points toward the death being related to a medical event or a mountain bike crash.
