Man killed in Phoenix crossing street in hit-and-run

A man was killed late Thursday night in Phoenix in what police described as a hit-and-run accident while the man was crossing midblock.

The incident occurred about 10:40 p.m. July 25, when Phoenix Police were called to the area near 34th Avenue and Camelback Road and found a victim suffering from serious injuries.

The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries, according to a press release.

Phoenix Police detectives learned the man was crossing midblock when he was struck by an unknown driver going westbound on Camelback. The driver parked the car near 39th Avenue and Elm Street and left on food, according to a press release.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
