Make history: Take part in a Guinness World Record attempt

The public is invited to a high-energy online bingo game 10 a.m., Oct. 22, that will attempt to set a Guinness World Record title for the most viewers of a bingo livestream on a bespoke platform.

This is a free event open to all age groups.

Thousands of people in Arizona and across the country will participate in this live and interactive online game of Bingo to raise awareness about the importance of social connectedness in older adults.
“Loneliness and social isolation in older adults are serious public health risks affecting a significant number of people in the United States and putting them at risk for dementia and other serious medical conditions,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Televeda co-founder Shruti Gurudanti said the pandemic has shown the best way for the community to help older adult family members to beat loneliness is getting them an internet connection, a device and a patient teacher.

She said the goal behind this event is to raise global awareness about the importance of social connectedness for our mental wellbeing and to encourage the entire community across all ages to come together in a safe and fun way to celebrate this new modern aging.

The record breaking attempt is a partnership between Televeda and Duet, partners in health and aging, with the support of Cigna.

“The pandemic is hard for everyone, especially for those who are at risk. But we have also witnessed our older adult communities growing stronger and bolder. What better way to bring everyone together than with the unified mission of setting a world record for bingo?” Gurudanti said in a news release. “Our mission is to take back what belongs to each one of us: the ability not only to stay connected but thrive together while living our best lives ever.”

How the event works:

• Individuals, recreation centers, community health centers and nonprofits can log on to televeda.com/bingo and reserve their spot. Each person or organization needs to pre-register to be counted toward the world record title.

• On Oct. 22 at 10 a.m., participants log in to Televeda and enjoy the game. Each individual device will count toward an official Guiness World Records® attempt.

• Individuals can also choose to play the game by visiting any of the host venue locations listed on televeda.com/bingo.

• Recreation centers, community health centers and nonprofits will receive an email with a set of bingo cards to print prior to Oct. 22.

• Individuals playing from their personal devices will have a bingo card digitally rendered on the Televeda platform when they log in to play on Oct. 22.
