Litchfield Park baseball team competing for shot at Little League World Series

Posted

The Litchfield Park Little League All-Stars, known as The Park, are competing at the West Region International Little League Baseball title in San Bernadino, California.

The West Region games are taking place through Aug. 9 in a six-game tournament to determine which team will represent the western states in the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Park is referred to as Arizona in the 2024 Little League Baseball West Region and will play against Northern California, Hawaii and Southern California for the title of West Region Champion. The team must win three games with a double elimination rule.

In their first game, Arizona played against Southern California Aug. 4 and lost. Taking advantage of the double elimination rule, Arizona had the opportunity to play the Northern California team the following day, Aug. 5, when The Park won a 3-2 in a game against Sacramento’s Land Park Pacific All-Stars and moved on to game five of the six game series.

The Park plays in game five 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, and their game will be streamed live on ESPN+. After the conclusion of the West Region Aug. 9, the winning team will go directly to the Little League World Series.

“We are so proud of these athletes,” said Jason Gibbs, The Park’s head coach. “This team in the Little League Division, is ready to compete for the chance to play in the Little League Baseball World Series. This team is ready to represent Arizona.”
